Bio

Michael James Battle was born in Utica, New York. His passion for playing piano began while studying at the Academy of Performing and Creative Arts in Clinton, NY. During his studies, Michael enrolled with the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) located in Bedford Square, London. After completing numerous exams, Michael earned a Diploma Degree in Piano Performance from ABRSM. Michael holds an additional degree in Piano Performance from Onondaga College in Syracuse, NY.

In 2009 Michael moved to South Florida and signed with a record label. His debut album, "Chopin After Midnight", earned a position among the top 10 on the Classical Billboard Chart for three weeks in a row. Chopin After Midnight featured Michael's first original composition containing piano and orchestra titled Carol in Db Major, written in honor of his mother who passed away from cancer.

After composing "Carol", Michael grew home sick and was inspired to create an original album titled "Reflection", which is music written to reflect his life growing up in Utica N.Y. It is Michael’s first album compiled completely of his own compositions. It is with heartfelt thanks and love, that Michael dedicates this album to his father, mother, and grandmother.

Michael is currently a full time teacher back in the Utica area and has been teaching for 10 years. He conveniently travels to his students homes for piano instruction and has a teaching studio in New Hartford N.Y. Currently, he has "In Home" students as far as Baldwinsville, East Syracuse, Jamesville, Cazenovia, Sherrill, New Hartford and Utica. He also offers Skype/Face Time lessons. Through his many years of performing and being a recording artist, he specializes in passing along his knowledge of music theory, sight reading, technical finger exercises and composition. From South Florida to New York, he has taught students of all ages and levels. Michael is NYSSMA and ABRSM affiliated enrolling only his select students into one or both examinations.
